Who Am I?
Long story short, I’m a footballer who loves food. If you didn’t know, a footballers schedule is pretty sweet. We have a lot of free time on our hands. I moved to Glasgow by myself as a teenager, many moons ago now. All those years living alone with tons of free time, surely he’s put it to good use, working towards an online degree or something, you’re thinking. You’d be wrong, I seem to have spent most of my time thinking about food, eating food, and making food.
Despite all the food extremism you see on social media just now, I’m all about balance here. Passionate about using food as fuel for performance and optimal health, and equally so about having food for pure pleasure and delight. Obviously as a professional athlete its important I take great care of my diet and physical health. I tend to focus on eating healthy, home cooked meals for the majority of my week, then planning one or two things I want to try or know I will enjoy in there as well, which lets face it, is key for the old mental health.
My love for the Glasgow food scene is constantly growing as I keep discovering and experiencing incredible places, run by passionate people who want to provide great food. It inspires me to want to do the same thing. So hopefully what I share with you here inspires you in some way. Whether it’s to cook something new, go try that cafe or restaurant, whip up a late night bowl of cereal, even if you simply notice and enjoy the next thing you eat that bit more, it’s all good.
I’ll share with you the places I go and my honest thoughts on them, and will also show you what I make myself at home, from simple daily meals to new experiments (even the big fails).
